Scholarships
Since 2010, Red & Blue Foundation has been giving scholarships to children and step-children of first responders through our merits scholarship program. Each year, we give $10,000 to graduating high school seniors to help them in their pursuit of higher education.
Our 2024 Scholarship is now open for submissions. The deadline for submissions is April 1, 2024. We look forward to seeing more quality applicants this year!
Application
Requirements
This $10,000, one-time scholarship(s) is restricted to children/step-children of first responders employed in Kootenai County, including the Idaho State Police (District 1). It is further restricted to graduating high school seniors pursuing post-secondary education (4yr degree, 2yr degree, or Technical Program) at any college, community college, or university. Students can be pursuing a degree or certificate in any field of study. This award may be given in full to one student or divided between several deserving applicants at the discretion of the scholarship board.
All applicants must submit:
- Scholarship Application
- A copy of your 7th Semester Transcript
- 2 Letters of Recommendation (neither recommender can have a family relation)
- One letter from an academic teacher or counselor
- One letter from a community member
- Give each person a copy of the Letter of Recommendations Instructions
- Academic Resume
- Include educational achievements, volunteer experiences, extra-curricular activities, leadership roles, etc.
- Student Essay
- Address what you would like the scholarship committee to know about you. Include your current life situation, future goals, and how you would benefit from this scholarship. Limit your essay to one page double-spaced.

2021 Winners
We again awarded $10,000 to outstanding qualifying dependent graduates from first responders in Kootenai County. The group of applicants was impressive, and we had a very hard time choosing among them. We are excited to present the following winners with their future aspirations.

Alissa will be attending University of Dallas pursuing a career as a lawyer, lobbyist, and/or in politics.

Dependent of Post Falls Police Officer
Damon will be attending University of Idaho pursuing a career in Firefighting Science.

Coeur d'Alene High School
Malan will be attending University of Alabama pursuing a career in the aerospace program.
Tate
Dependent of Northern Lakes Firefighter
Coeur d'Alene High School
Malan will be attending University of Boise pursuing a career in Physical Therapy.
2020 Winners
Each year, the Foundation is proud to award $10,000 to qualifying dependent graduates from first responders in Kootenai County. This year is no exception, as once again we have a very impressive group of recipients! We are excited to present to you the following 2020 graduate scholarship recipients. Josiah plans to attend Eastern Washington University and complete a degree in Accounting.

Coeur d’Alene High School
Tyler plans to attend Idaho State University and complete a degree in healthcare, specifically radiology.
Bethany
Coeur d’Alene High School
Bethany plans to attend North Idaho College; after NIC graduation she plans to transfer to the University of Idaho and complete her Bachelor Degree in Organizational Science and become a police officer.
Hailey

Hailey plans on attending The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth, Charleston School of Business, to pursue a degree in international business and French and play softball.

Jordan plans to attend North Idaho College; after NIC she plans to study agriculture through continued schooling.
